Nigerian Schools To Resume September 22 As Panic Over Ebola Ebbs

Nigerian schools are now to resume later this month,precisely September 22nd.This new date was arrived at today after the Minister Of Education,Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau met with State Commissioners of Education.
The first hint that the federal government might be reviewed from October 13th date earlier scheduled emerged this week when the Minister of Health ,Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu said schools could resume anytime from the middle of this month.He however said the final decision on the exact date would be taken by stakeholders in the education sector.
It is evident that the new resumption date is a clear sign that the initial panic and anxiety over Ebola virus disease which was imported into Nigeria by Mr Patrick Sawyer has ebbed.All the cases of Ebola so far appear linked to the index case of Mr Sawyer, Nigeria’s health minister has said repeatedly.
However is expected that all school authorities would take precautionary measures as government announced earlier.Lagos State government for instance has held a meeting between officials and authorities including teachers of schools in the state.
