The Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, has appointed Mrs Didi Walson-Jack, as the new Permanent Secretary of the Ministry.
This was revealed in a statement issued by the Head, Press and Public Relations Unit of the Ministry, Ms Deworitshe Patricia in Abuja on Friday.
The statement quoted Walson-Jack as pledging to develop and institutionalize an efficient, productive, incorruptible and citizen-centered culture in the Ministry.
The new permanent secretary, before her appointment into the Niger Delta Ministry, had served as the Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office (SWO), office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF).
She said that she would also design an entrepreneurial culture and commercial orientation, in line with the mandate of the Head of Civil Service.
She, therefore, called for renewed excellent service delivery by staff as inefficiency, incompetence, infraction or dereliction of duty would no longer be tolerated as they impacted directly on the people of the Niger Delta region.
Walson-Jack stressed the need for all hands to be put on deck to reduce the suffering of the region as this would be one of the focal points of her administration.
She also expressed her readiness to work on achieving the aim of the Federal Government to develop the Niger Delta region through strategic partnership and collaboration.
The Permanent Secretary pledged to adhere strictly by the civil service rule of zero tolerance for corruption and poor work ethics and promised to improve the welfare of staff.
Walson- Jack, maintained that she would work in line with stipulations of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan, as approved by the Federal Executive Council.
She said that her administration would be aimed at increasing the Ministry’s quality of service delivery as well as work for the attainment of the goals of the Head of Civil Service, stressing that transparency would be her watch word.
In her remark, Mrs Lauren Braide, Director, Community Development and Education (CDE) expressed hope that her takeover of the reins of authority would change the narrative of the Niger Delta region as well as that of the Ministry.
Braide urged the staff to support the new Permanent Secretary in her quest to develop the Niger Delta region as well as improve the welfare of Staff.
She expressed hope that the yearnings and aching of the people of the Niger Delta region would be catered to. (NAN)
