Nigeria’s National Emergency Management Authority ,NEMAhas debunked reports of an explosion in Abuja today.The agency said it was a shop caught fire.
A statement by Yushau Shuaib ,head ,public relations of NEMA said “This is to clear the air over a rumours (speculations) on alleged explosion in Abuja. There wasnt/isnt any explosion in Abuja today
“The attention of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was only drawn to a shop in Lokogoma area of Abuja where the shop caught fire due to mishandling of electric appliances”Shuaib said.
He added that “there was no human casualty from the fire incident and the incident is not related to any terrorist attack. It is human error.Rescue and security officers were at the scene immediately after the incident.”
Earlier, there was apprehension among some residents of Abuja Tuesday after reports made the round that there was an explosion near Asokoro Abuja.But reporters were later learned that it was not a bomb blast as earlier feared.
