Muktar Ramalan Yero former deputy governor has been sworn in as the governor of Kaduna state ,a day after the ill fated Naval helicopter crash in Bayelsa State which killed Governor Patrick Yakowa, ex NSA ,General Azazi and four others.
Born on May 21, 1968 in Agwan Kaura in Zaria City of Kaduna state, the new governor is a muslim from the Kaduna north. Yero is an accountant.
He is also known as a very close associate of Vice President Namadi Sambo.It is expected that Yero will name a deputy from the largely Christian southern Kaduna.
Yakowa was the first governor from Southern Kaduna.He emerged after Sambo was elevated to the post of VP by President Goodluck Jonathan.Yakowa was reelected for his full four year term in 2011.Sadly, the crash cut his tenure short.
