MTN Afrinolly, the premier Nigerian mobile application focused on promoting African entertainment; movies, music and celebrities, is bringing renowned film and TV content producers, Femi Odugbemi and Bongiwe Selani, to share their knowledge and experiences with filmmakers in the second edition of its Afrinolly MasterClass slated for 3pm on Saturday December 8, 2012, via Google+ Hangout.
The Afrinolly MasterClass is an online knowledge-sharing and educative programme aimed at promoting the on-going Afrinolly Shortfilm Competition, a video-based competition which was launched on the 1st of November, 2012 and targeted at budding film-makers and documentary/animation content creators from across Africa.
According to Chike Maduegbuna, CEO of FansConnectOnline Limited and the developers of Afrinolly: “The MasterClass aims at offering young and emerging filmmakers in Africa exceptionally creative access to opportunities and experiences of renowned leaders of the movie industry globally. It is designed to offer technical tips and career advice intended to give budding film makers insight into all aspects of film making from writing and directing to acting and producing.”

Femi Odugbemi, who is also a writer and photographer, trained in Film and TV Production at Montana State University, USA. He is famed for his screen credits which include Nigeria’s most popular game show – ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire?’ and the popular MNET soap-opera, ‘Tinsel’.
Bongiwe Selane started her career in the Film and TV industry 14 years ago. Her notable role is as a one-time Commissioning Editor for MNET drama series such as ‘Doctor’s Quarters’ and the popular TV series ‘Edge of Paradise.’
The first edition of the Afrinolly MasterClass has been acclaimed as a welcome innovation in the TV and film industry. The session gave budding filmmakers from across Africa an opportunity to meet with Franklin Leonard, a Hollywood insider whose ‘Black List’ discovered scripts that went ahead to become Hollywood hits. Scripts of movies such as Pursuit of Happiness, The Social Network, Slumdog Millionaire, The King’s Speech, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and Juno.
Franklin Leonard, the former Vice President of Creative Affairs for Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment, is the creator of the Black List and co-creator of www.Blcklst.com, a yearly publication, highlighting Hollywood’s most popular unproduced screenplays. Of the 500 screenplays highlighted over the last six years in the Black List, over 120 have been made and distributed, earned $11 billion worldwide at the box office, and won 20 Academy Awards from over 80 nominations.
