An Area Court in Jos on Friday dissolved a 16-year-old ”loveless” marriage between Hussaina Abdullahi and her husband, Saidu Ali .

Delivering judgment, the judge, Lawal Suleiman granted the prayer of Abdullahi for divorce.

The judge, gave custody of the children to Abdullahi and ordered Ali to send N 30,000 monthly through the court for the upkeep of the two children.

The judge also ordered Ali to pay the children’s school fees.

Earlier, before the divorce was granted, the petitioner told the court that she got married to Saidu in 2008.

”Our marriage lacks peace and love. I no longer love Saidu and can no longer live with him as his wife.

”I am ready to refund the N40,000 dowry he paid for my hand in marriage”, she said.

She prayed for custody of the two children. (NAN)

An Area Court in Jos on Friday sentenced a mechanic, Hassan Faruk, to three months imprisonment for stealing three tricycle batteries worth N 120,000.

The judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence and begged the court for leniency.

The judge gave the convict an option of N20,000 fine or three months imprisonment in default.

Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported at the Angwan Rogo police station on June 1, by Mr Adamu Abdullahi.

He said the convict trespassed into the complainant’s garage and stole three tricycle batteries.

The prosecutor further told the court that during police investigation, the convict confessed to the crime.

The offence, he said, contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria. (NAN
