One of the aides of Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari has launched a campaign to clean up a community in Katsina metropolis.It’s called “Operation Clean-Up Yarinchi, Katsina!”
The programmed aimed at promoting rural and community sanitation led jointly by by Hon. Fatima Y. Usman Katsina, SA Development Partners and Donor Agencies to Governor Masari in conjunction with the State Environment Protection Agency, SEPA.
Masari’s aide, Fatima said in a statement sent to Newsdiaryonline that “This urban area (Yarinchi) has been like this for almost 20yrs, a source of malaria, typhoid and other infectious diseases within the community.
“We will follow-up with a sensitization campaign in the community to promote healthy hygiene and sanitation practices. Combined with religious and cultural advocacy programmes focusing on “Cleansiness is Close to Holiness” aka “Allah na son Tsafta” for sustainable results in the community.
She also disclosed that there is a collaboration with UNICEF to promote sanitation. “I am collaborating with UNICEF to promote healthy sanitization and hygiene practices under their WASH mandate and anti open defecation program” she said.
One of her messages said “@Yarinci Qtrs:Ongoing refuse evacuation from a pond behind late MD Yusuf house.
It was also revealed that “The SSA to the Governor on development partners and diaspora, Hajiya Fatima Y Usman requested for the intervention of the ED Mallam Isa S. Barda to save people of the area from the menace of the refuse dumped in the pond.”
