Man docked for alleged stealing of POS machine, 2 cell phones

The Police on Monday arraigned one Mohammed Mustapha, in a Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing a Point of Sales machine (POS) and two cell phones.

The defendant who resides at Byazhin Across, Kubwa, Abuja is facing a three-count charge of criminal trespass, house breaking and theft.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that one Charles Obiozor of Kubwa, Abuja, reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on Dec. 14.

He said the defendant trespassed into the complainant’s premises and broke into his shop through the ceiling on Aug. 13.

“The defendant stole the complainant’s POS machine and two cell phones ,valued at N23, 000,’’ he said.

According to him, the offences contravened Sections 342, 346 and 288 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Mohammed Marafa, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000, with one surety in like sum and adjourned the matter until Feb. 26 for hearing. (NAN)
