Mr Tunde Ikusagba on Monday officially assumed duty as the acting Director General of Legal Aid Council of Nigeria (LACON).
The out gone DG, Mrs Joy Bob-Manuel, said at a brief handover ceremony in Abuja, that she was bowing out after eight years of meritorious tenure, which ended on Dec. 24, 2018.
Ikusagba, before his appointment, was the most senior director in the Council.
Ikusagba promised to continue where the out-gone DG had stopped and craved the cooperation of the members of staff.
He lauded Bob-Manuel for the confidence repose in him.
The Legal Aid Council of Nigeria provides access to justice for indigent members of the society who cannot afford the cost of justice.
The law establishing the council was promulgated by then Head of the Federal Military Government, General Olusegun Obasanjo on Nov. 10, 1976. (NAN)
