Ibadan-Jericho Metro Rotary to initiate N20m projects

Kayode Adelekun, the newly installed President of Rotary Club of Ibadan-Jericho Metro District 9125 Nigeria  has promised to positively impact on the society with development projects worth N20million.

Adelekun made the disclosure in his acceptance speech at his investiture ceremony as the seventh  president of the district in Ibadan.

Rotary Club, a world-renowned service-oriented organisation,  has carried out several projects within communities.

Adelekun, who would hold forth for Rotary Year 2018-2019,  said that the six major areas of focus earmarked for exploration worldwide were Peace and Conflict  Resolutions,  Maternal and Child Health as well as Basic Education and Literacy.

Others are Disease Prevention and Treatment, Water and Sanitation as well as Economic and Community Development.

Adelekun said N4 million would be expended on Maternal and Child Health, while Water and Sanitation will gulp N6 million.

He stated that Basic Education and Literacy would gulp N4 million while a sum of  N2 million would be expended on Disease Prevention and Treatment.

“A million naira will be expended on Economic and Community Development, while three million naira would be spent on Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution,’’ he added.

He solicited for support from Rotarians and their friends, saying this was to affect the society positively.

“A single head achieves nothing. I am counting on your support to achieve the growth and goals I have dreamt of this club.

“I accept this appointment with pride and will give my best efforts to make you proud,” he said.

Similarly, Rotarian Akin Akinola, a past District Governor, urged members to be more committed and supportive of the great work of the club.

Akinola, who was the chairman of the event, said  the club had since establishment been committed to societal and human development.

Rotarian Bisi Yomi-Layinka, the wife of the Special Adviser to Gov. Abiola Ajimobi on Ibadan Media City Project emerged the president-elect to take over from Adelekun.

The event featured raffle draw which saw several winners going  home with prizes.(NAN)
