Governor Ortom’s Aide Arrested For Illegal Attempt To Access Police File

As dust continues to rise over the recently held primaries of the All Progressive Congress (APC), for the forthcoming LG polls in Benue State, the Police Makurdi, has arrested the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties, Mr. Joseph Odaudu, over allegation of impersonation and Illegal attempt to access the police official information.

Odaudu, in company of his accomplice, Daniel Onda, member of Benue State Hospital Management Board, had visited the state command of the Police Force, in search of the service file of the APC Chairmanship Candidate for Apa LG, Hon Danjuma Oche Solomon, who is a retired police officer.

Information reveals that, Hon. Odaudu, like other APC stakeholders in Apa LGA, were not comfortable with the emergence of Hon. Solomon as the party’s flagbearer, as he was believed to have been inordinately imposed on the people by the ‘power-that-be’.

According to police sources, they were allegedly nabbed after they lied to the police, that they had the authority of Hon. Solomon to collect a copy of his police service file and transmit same to him at the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), where screening of candidates is currently ongoing.

However, a quick investigation by the cautious police without much ado, exposed their ulterior motive, which prompted their arrest.

A Police source also revealed that, the duo have made statements to the police, confessing that, they were working for Alhaji Ali Ogoh, who contested the party ticket against Hon. Solomon at the primaries.

The Governor’s aide also admitted that, their aim was to see whether they could find anything in the record of Hon. Danjuma Oche Solomon, to smear him.

A swift intervention from the State government, however, saw to their release, as the Chief of Staff to Governor Ortom, Hon. Terwase Orbunde, secured their bail immediately.

There was no statement on the matter at the time of publishing this story.
