A former Governor of Abia State and Coordinator Njiko Igbo, Dr. Orji Kalu will on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 as the guest speaker deliver a lecture on the topic- June 12 and the search for credible elections.
The programme with the theme- 20YEARS AFTER JUNE 12 is organized by Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the June 12, 1993 Presidential election and will hold at Excellence hotel, Ogba, Lagos.
While serving as the Governor of Abia State ,Kalu declared June 12 as public holiday in honour of the widely acclaimed winner of the 1993 Presidential election, Chief M.K.O Abiola.This earned Kalu a pro-democracy credential. Also, at several forums called on the federal government to declare June 12 as democracy day instead of May 29.
The event will be chaired by NADECO Chairman, Admiral Ndubuisi Kalu (rtd) while the Speaker of Lagos State house of Assembly,Rt. Hon. Rotimi Ikuforiji, former President Nigeria Bar Association, Dame Priscilia Kuye and International woman of courage and President Campaign for democray, Dr. Joe Okei- Odumaki are special guests of honour . Otunba Ganiyu Adams,National Coordinator of OPC is the chief host.
The event will attract policy and decision makers, politicians, activitists, diplomats ,media, professionals etc.
