Concerned members of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, JONAPWD, have passed a vote of no confidence on the president of the Association, Barrister Danlami Basharu for his alleged penchant for violating the constitution he swore to uphold and protect on behalf of the association.
The group led by its Publicity Secretary, Dickson Tornongo alleged Thursday that Danlami and some of his cronies in a desperate bid to elongate their illegal stay in superintending over the affairs of the associations in 2008 fraudulently deceived the Corporate Affairs Commission through fabrication of phantom board resolutions and appointed themselves members of Board of the trustees of the Association.
Dickson who spoke at a press conference and presented a text jointly signed by himself, Lucy Upah and Lawrence E Idemudia said having exhausted the term of his tenure Danlami went ahead to use the association’s name to secure fund to the tune of N7m to conduct an illegal expanded exco meeting in Abuja during which he foisted a further tenure elongation till March 2013.
Danlami’s latest assault on the collective will of the Association Dickson noted has provoked the concerned members to “pass a vote of no confidence in the present executive committee of the Joint National Association of persons with disabilities as led by Barr. Danlami Basharu and we seriously doubt his integrity and sincerity to organize a free and fair election even after the end of his illegally elongated term in office come March 2013.”
“From the foregoing, we are concerned Nigerian citizens with disabilities hereby pass a unanimous vote of no confidence in the present executive committee of the Joint national association of persons with disabilities as led by Barr. Danlami Basharu and we seriously doubt his integrity and sincerity to organize a free and fair election even after the end of his illegally elongate term in office come March 2013.
“We hereby give Barr. Danlami Basharu one month from the date of this release; to convene a national convention, wherein a proper electoral committee shall be convened in strict compliance to the dictates of the association’s Constitution. Failure to do this, we shall be compelled to take further drastic action legally viable against Barr. Danlami and his cohort to perpetuate themselves in office indefinitely he stated.
