The Ministry of Defence has extended its heartfelt condolences to President Bola Tinubu, the Nigerian Army, and the family of the late Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.
In a press release issued on Wednesday in Abuja, Honourable Minister of Defence H.E. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, the Minister of State for Defence H.E. Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, Permanent Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, and the entire staff of the Ministry expressed their sorrow over the passing of Lt. General Lagbaja. They conveyed their sympathies to President Tinubu, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and the family of the late Army Chief, describing his death as a significant loss for the nation.
The Ministry noted that the late General had fostered a spirit of camaraderie and cooperation in his engagements with the Defence Ministry. His contributions to internal security operations across Nigeria and his unwavering professionalism were highlighted as defining elements of his service.
The Defence Ministry emphasized that he will be deeply missed by his family, the military, and the country, to which he dedicated himself with steadfast commitment.
“May his soul rest in the bosom of the Lord,” the statement concluded.
