Crime fighting: Foundation urges more support for security agencies

 A Non-Governmental Organisation, Cleen Foundation Nigeria, has called for more support to security agencies to contain the activities of terrorists and other violent criminals across Nigeria. 

The Executive Director of the foundation, Mr Gad Peter, made the call at a two-day Regional Dissemination Workshop on Security Dynamics, Solutions, and Civil-Military Relationship in Borno. 

Peter said that the needed support and collaboration from all stakeholders would facilitate the job of the military, the police and other stakeholders in tackling security challenges across Nigeria.

He lauded the improved relationship between the military and civil populace in Borno as well as the synergy among security agencies in the fight against insurgency in the state.

Peter said the workshop in Borno was organized to further strengthen the harmonious relationship between uniform men and civilians for a common ground towards improved security.

 

Speaking on behalf of participants from 7 Division,  Maiduguri,  Maj Mohammed Imam, expressed appreciation with the improved civil-military relationship in Borno.

He also called for the sustenance of the civil-military relationship in the State.

Speaking on behalf of media participants, the Borno chapter Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Alhaji Dauda Iliya, expressed satisfaction with the good relationship between journalists and security agencies in the state.

Iliya lauded the role of former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor and his successor, Gen. Christopher Musa for their role in the improvement of the relationship during their tenure as Theatre commanders in Borno. 

Also speaking, the representative of Borno Ministry of Justice, Usman Mshelia, and that of State House of Assembly, Bukar Modu, lauded Cleen foundation for its interventions in Borno and assured it of sustained support. (NAN)
