An Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Tuesday ordered the remand of one Fashina Adekunle  in Ilesa Correctional Centre over alleged perversion of justice.

The Magistrate, Mrs Mary Awodele, had ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody due to the magnitude of the alleged offense.

Awodele, however, opposed the bail application of the Defense Counsel, Mr Olatunbosun Oladipupo, and adjourned the case to March 16 for consideration of bail.

The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Kayode Adeoye, told the court that the defendant committed the offense on March 3, 2020 at about 9:30 a.m., at the Osun High Court premises.

Adeoye said the defendant stood as surety for one Joseph Johnson in MOS/595c/2019, claiming to be a civil servant on grade level 14, which was false.

He said the defendant conspired with Johnson to allow him travel out of his jurisdiction, and refusing to appear in his case after being granted bail by the court.

The prosecutor said the offense committed contravened sections 516 and 126 of the criminal code cap 34 vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The defendant is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and perversion of justice against him.  (NAN)
