Vice President Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo has charged a sub-committee of the Police Reform Committee to review the presentation by Accenture, the consulting company saddled with the responsibility of developing a framework and execution plan that will be used by the Nigerian Police for improved performance and fund raising. They are to come up with the current assets and equipments of the Nigerian Police and the gaps available in their requirements for immediate action.
The Sub Committee consists of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), two members from Ministry of Police Affairs, two members from the Police Force and the representatives of the private sector as members. They were mandated to amongst others come up with a stratified type of security arrangement, comprehensive inventory of police infrastructure and assets, a standardized logistic requirements which should be in tandem with a new police architecture
to address our security needs as well as submit a report on the preparation of ongoing bio-metric data of all police officers in the country. They are also to recommend how security can be best fast tracked, look at training programme of members of the Police Force and examine any other matter incidental to beefing up the presentation earlier made.
Accenture also made a presentation on the proposed police reform framework that looked at the immediate, medium and long term reform plans. The report examined such key areas as organization, funding, operational infrastructure, information management, human capital management, standards and processes.
Present in the meeting were the Governors of Anambra and Kwara States, the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Minister of Police Affairs, and from the private sector MD of Access Bank, Aig Imoukhede, Femi Otedola and other top government officials.
