The Osun State Police Commissioner, Ibrahim Maishanu has debunked insinuations about the alleged involvement of the Boko Haram sect in the explosion that occurred in Ile-ife town in South West ,Nigeria. The explosion rocked Ile-Ife on Tuesday causing panic among the residents.
In an interview with channels tv, the commissioner said the devices recovered at the scene were not similar to those used by the terrorist sect.
He said “there was explosion, it is a minor explosion in the sense that the damage was very minimal, no loss of life and no injury.
“But you know anything to do with explosion generate a lot of tension, especially at this period. Some speculation that it’s Boko Haram but from our own analysis there, it is not the modus operandi of Boko Haram, and it is not the kind of devices they use. So I believe that somebody just want to raise apprehension and tension in the society ”
The state is actually in the grip of election fever as Iyiola Omisore of Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP is struggling to unseat Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the All Progressives Congress,APC in the upcoming gubernatorial election.
