The much anticipated sack of Alhaji Bamanga Tukur as national chairman of the ruling PDP has not taken place yet as he remains in office.
Reports at the end of the party’s NEC meeting in Abuja this afternoon said the PDP chairman has survived an attempt to boot him out.In fact, prior to the meeting, a rather confident Tukur today in an exclusive interview with Channels TV dismissed hints that he would be sacked.
Yesterday,Chief Olisa Metuh, the party’s publicity secretary resigned. At least seven other NWC members are believed to have resigned.
President Jonathan used the NEC meeting to express deep worries about the lingering violence in the North. He said it was however clear that Boko Haram was not responsible for every violence. He identified the bloodletting in Zamfara state as something unrelated to Boko Haram, according to reports at his disposal.
