Amaechi impressed by manufacturer’s progress in Rivers…canvasses more jobs for indigenes

Rivers state Governor, Chibuike Amaechi has lauded Dufil Prima Foods Plc, manufacturers of Indomie noodles on their good reports and achievements in doing business in the state.Impressed by the recent completion of the company’s new factories in the State, Amaechi expressed hope that more Rivers people will benefit by way of employment at the factories.

The governor spoke when a delegation led by Managing Director of Dufil Prima Foods Plc, Mr. Bagu Muki paid a courtesy visit a him at Government House Port Harcourt, Tuesday.

“Let me congratulate you on the completion of your factories in Choba, but as you said, we only know about the Indomie factory but if there are other expansions, we are greatly pleased, even as we hope that those ones will provide more employment for the people of Rivers State, especially the people living around and doing business in Choba (the host community),” Amaechi said.

Earlier, Mr. Bagu Muki, told the Governor, of the success and stability being enjoyed by the group of companies which besides Indomie production also have investments in other areas.

He said, “Our group has been here in Rivers State for about 30 years. We started with a humble trading company and we have grown into manufacturing sector by investments.

“As our landlord, we have come here today to showcase a small investment that we have been doing in your state. We have a few factories at Choba, Rivers State. The first factory we did set up was the Indomie factory, today that Indomie factory has its production doubled and tripled. Subsequently we have also a new factory for manufacturing Pastas; and today we have also set up a new industry for the flour mills.”

According to him, the Indomie-manufacturing group of companies in Rivers State employs about 1000 workers as their operations further benefit distributors and transporters and others in one form of business dealings with them or another.

He also revealed that the group of companies has further diversified into haulage business, building of deep seaports in Nigeria, planned operation of a free trade zone and others for which they have got approval from the Federal Government.
