The Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Mr Christopher Maikalangu, has inspected completed and ongoing projects in some communities in the council.
The projects inspected included road, rural electrification, solar-powered boreholes, streetlights and healthcare clinic in Kugbo village, Nyanya, Agwan Hausawa, Nwakpwa village and Karu.
Roads, school, market and solar-powered street lighting projects were also inspected in Jikwoyi, Kpeyegyi, Oronzo, Gasaki Cheta, Wasa
Takushara and Kabusa communities in the council
Addressing newsmen who accompanied him on the inspection tour, the AMAC boss expressed satisfaction at the contractors for their commitment to ensure the completion of some of the roads within time frame.
“I choose today to inspect these projects to ensure that what I am signing and approving money for, in the office are executed. I have to come out to see the jobs myself.
“I am satisfied with what I have seen so far and I give the contractors 90 per cent pass mark. This is because, few of them did not deliver up to expectations. We will give them time for completion,” he said
Speaking at the site of an abandoned healthcare clinic facility at Nyanya, the Chairman said he had ordered the pulling down of the old structure so as to rebuild it to the latest standard.
“That healthcare facility has been there for some years and I don’t like the structure.
“I have authorised my department of works to pull it down, we want to build the latest healthcare clinic, ” he assured.
Maikalangu said that he would inspect the other projects within the Airport axis of the Council, in the subsequent week.
Meanwhile, members of the communities have thanked the chairman for his good works.
One of them, Mr Emmanuel Uko, a resident at Jikwoyi community expressed appreciation to the chairman for the massive projects being embarked on within the council. (NAN)
