A 29-year-old man, Samuel Akodeku, was on Friday in Badagry, Lagos State, granted a N300,000 bail over alleged unlawful sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl at a church premises in Seme Border.
A Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, which gave the ruling, asked Akodeku to provide two sureties as part of the bail condition.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Patrick Adekomaiya, said that one of the sureties must be a traditional ruler.
He adjourned the case until June 10, for mention.
Akodeku, whose address was not provided, is facing a four-count charge bordering on rape, assault and breach of peace.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Ade Adeosun, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on May 4, at 3:30p.m. at No 7, Akodeku Compound, Seme Border, Badagry, Lagos State.
Adeosun said that the defendant unlawfully had sexually intercourse with girl without her consent.
“Akodeku also assaulted the complainant by sexually touching her without her consent.
“The defendant also conducted himself in a manner that was likely to cause breach of the peace by having sex with the girl in a church premises.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 168, 170, 261 and 263 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
