Stakeholders in Adamawa’s Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP have resolved to get it right by ensuring that the party wins the forthcoming bye-elections .They made this pledge at a meeting with the acting governor Ahmad Umaru Fintiri.
Former Presidential Adviser A.A. Gulak who spoke on behalf of all former PDP Aspirants pledged that since Fintiri has emerged as the flag-bearer of the part, all have resolved to queue behind him and ensure that the party wins.
A party elder and stakeholder, Professor Jibrin Aminu said only politicians who lack ideas would rely on primordial sentiments to win elections.
Prof. Aminu said the P.D.P has produced a good flag-bearer in Fintiri, who has started performing and reducing the State’s debt profile. “Adamawa State is a P.D.P State and will remain so now and in 2015”, Prof. Aminu said.Aminu’s statement comes against the background of the bye election in which the APC is hoping its candidate will regain the office of governor after Murtala Nyako was impeached.Nyako decamped from PDP to APC .
In reaction during the meeting with PDP chieftains, Governor Fintiri thanked the Stakeholders and assured that everything will be done by party and the government to hand-over a stable state in 2015.
Fintiri said President Jonathan sincerely and patriotically zeal motivated him and other Governors to endorse him.
Meanwhile, Fintiri has described as a welcome relief, President Goodluck Jonathan’s assurances of bringing an end to insurgency in the North-East part of the Country, soon.
President Jonathan is widely quoted to have promised that by next month the insurgents who have embarked on an unrestrained killing spree in Mubi Senatorial Zone, leading to the displacement of Thousands of People, would have been rooted out.
Governor Fintiri was speaking while taking delivery of relief materials meant for Thousands of Internally Displaced Persons affected by the insurgency in Madagali, Gulak, Michika and Bazza.
Fintiri said the President’s statement coupled with the concerted effort being made to cushion the effect on the displaced persons, is reassertion of the Federal Government’s firm commitment to put an end to insurgency once and for all.
He called on the people of the State to give the President the required support and cooperation, commending Security Agencies for their efforts in maintaining peace and order in the State.
