President Muhammadu Buhari has condoled with the government and people of Nasarawa State over the passing away of its former governor, Aliyu Akwe-Doma.
President Buhari’s condolence message is contained in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Wednesday.
The President commiserated with the family, friends and community members of the astute leader, who served the nation as a civil servant for many years, and later rose through the ranks to become a Permanent Secretary.
He affirmed that Akwe-Doma had worked assiduously for the country as a member of the Presidential Joint National Consultative and Advisory Committee of Traditional Rulers and Leaders of Thought (1995–1998).
The deceased was also a member of the National Committee on the Future of Higher Education in Nigeria (1996–1998), amongst others.
President Buhari commended the sacrifices of Akwe-Doma in promoting peaceful co-existence, infrastructural development in the state, particularly his zeal to improve the standard of education.
He prayed that the Almighty Allah would grant the departed soul eternal rest, and comfort members of his family.
Late Akwe-Doma, who was one time Deputy Governor in the old Plateau State, served as Nasarawa state governor between 2007 and 2011.(NAN)
