Kogi State Governor Yahaya bello has identified the student killed in Monday’s violent political clash in Lokoja.
A statement by Petra Akinti Onyegbule media aide to the governor named the victim as Saka Seidu, a student of the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja.
Reports from Lokoja,Kogi State capital Monday said there was violent clash between supporters of Governor Bello and those of Senator Dino Melaye.
Gunshots were said to have been fired with at least the state government confirming that a student of Kogi State Polytechnic was killed.Though unconfirmed reports said more people may have died.Many people were also said to have been injured just as vehicles were smashed.
Governor Bello condemned “the unruly conduct, political violence and needless crisis orchestrated by Senator Dino Melaye in a bid to foil his recall from the National Assembly which led to the brutal murder of Saka Seidu, a student of the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja.”
Reports said the attempt to recall Senator Melaye has fueled tension in the state.
