The Inspector General of Police,IGP Solomon Arase has ordered special top and search operations on roads and highways nationwide,Force Headquarters said in a statement on Tuesday.
“Sequel to intelligence report, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon E. Arase NPM, fdc has directed the commencement of special stop and search on Roads and Highways nationwide, with emphasis on roads in and out of major cities (and) towns” CSP Abayomi Shogunle ,deputy force public relations officer said in the statement.
“Citizens are enjoined to bear with the Nigeria Police Force during this security operation which is a temporary measure put in place to address the intelligence received.
The special security measure, stop and search ,Shogunle said is in no way a return of roadblocks. Any unprofessional conduct should be reported at www.stopthebribes.net or nearest Police Station.
Also, the statement advised the general public to cooperate with Police operatives by providing answers to questions that may be asked as well as allowing their vehicles to be searched.
This is the second statement by the Force Headquarters on measures embarked upon to curb the resurgence of suspected Boko Haram attacks especially in the northern part of the country.
At least 26 people were killed in a bomb blast today(Tuesday) in Zaria ,Kaduna state.A female suicide bomber was killed in a blast near Mosque in Kano Monday night.
A twin bomb blast killed 44 in Jos,Plateau State, Sunday night.That was preceded by a suicide bomb blast a church in Potiskum Yobe State.Over 200 people have also been killed in recent attacks on several targets and locations in Borno state.
