The All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a directive to diaspora groups and associations to stop identifing themselves as “chapters” of the party.

Mr Felix Morka, the APC National Publicity Secretary,  gave the directive in a statement.

Morka noted that the Constitution does not give recognition to such chapters.

“It has come to the notice of the APC that some diaspora groups and associations describe and refer themselves as chapters of our great party.

“This nomenclature is impermissible under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.

Morka added that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), at its meeting of Wednesday, reaffirmed its position that all diaspora support groups or associations shall adhere strictly to this requirement.

He, therefore, requested that the party’s concerned groups and associations should rename themselves, accordingly, to reflect their status as support groups or associations.(NAN)
