The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has tasked Nigerians to champion the campaign aimed at rebranding Nigeria by displaying high sense of patriotism and national values to foster unity and progress.

The Director-General of the agency, Lanre Issa-Onilu, stated this at the inauguration of the nationwide campaign on the new National Anthem and National Values Charter, on Wednesday in Maiduguri.

He said the campaign seeks to reorient Nigerians on values that foster unity, pride and a shared sense of purpose.

Represented by Micheal Bidiliya, the NOA Director in the state, Issa-Onilu said the campaign seeks to address low level of patriotism and loyalty by encouraging all citizens to embrace their roles in nation building.

According to him, the new National Anthem “Nigeria, We Hail Thee,” is a symbol of unity and a tool for promoting collective identity in a diverse nation.

“The National Values Charter (NVC) was also highlighted as a blueprint for guiding both citizens and leaders, providing a framework for patriotism, civic responsibility, and national unity,” he said.

The News of Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that event featured investiture of the “7-for-7 Initiative,” which outlines seven promises for the government and seven commitments for citizens.

Issa-Onilu said the promises include equality, democracy and meritocracy, while commitments range from environmental awareness to accountability.

The NOA boss said President Tinubu’s key policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda, include economic empowerment through the Nigeria Youth Investment Fund, infrastructure development and social welfare programmes.

Others are agricultural initiatives and the Student Loan Scheme designed to make higher education accessible and affordable.

“In a major stride to make education more accessible, more than N2 billion has been disbursed to assist more than 20,000 students across six universities.

“The scheme helps students to cover school fees making higher education more affordable,” he said.

According to him, the agency will leverage technology driven platforms, including the mobiliser App, AI tools, and digital publications to ensure widespread civic engagement and feedback collection.

The exercise,  he said would inspire Nigerians to view themselves as part of a unified nation, working together to overcome challenges and drive progress. (NAN)
