US,UAE Top Diplomats Pay Courtesy Visit To IGP

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP Suleiman Abba on Tuesday received two high ranking diplomats, Mr. Francis John Bray, the Deputy Chief of Mission, US Embassy, Abuja and His Excellency, Ambassador of United Arab Emirate, Mr. Mahmud Mohammad at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.Both of them congratulated the IGP on his new appointment and wished him a successful tenure.
Nigeria’s new IGP while addressing the US Diplomat noted that he was very mindful of the very long existing mutually beneficial relationship between the Nigeria Police and US Embassy and promised to sustain this relationship. He thanked the US Embassy for its invaluable support to the Force especially for those US-sponsored courses on capacity building and development, leadership, terrorism and counter-insurgency as well as for previous donations of state-of-the-art equipment. He also thanked the US Embassy for the involvement of the FBI detectives in investigating terrorism-related crimes which undoubtedly have contributed to some of the successes recorded so far in this area.
Responding, Mr. John Bray expressed his hope that the partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and the US Embassy on matters of law enforcement will continue to blossom under the leadership of the new IGP. While congratulating the Force on its excellent outing at the just concluded Osun Gubernatorial election, he specifically promised that the US government will support the Nigeria Police in improving its capacity ahead of the 2015 general elections in the country.
On his part, the Ambassador of United Arab Emirate to Nigeria, Mr. Mahmud Mohammad promised to strengthen the existing relationship between the security Forces of his country and that of the Nigeria Police Force.
