Kaduna State Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero has hinted that those behind the attacks in Sanga Local Government Area of the State were saboteurs bent on truncating efforts by Government at all levels aimed at containing the insecurity in parts of the country.
Speaking when he received the forum of 23 Local Government Secretaries of the State at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House today(Thursday) , the Governor said the timing of the Sanga attacks shows that some people are determined to sabotage efforts at reducing the present level of insecurity in the land.
He said “the attack came on the same day that stakeholders from the Federal, States and Local Governments were in Kaduna for an International Conference aimed at ending the conflict between pastoralists and farmers in West and Central Africa. As we know, the attacks are of international dimension.
“That was the same time that some people decided to attack innocent citizens in Fadan Karshi and other areas. Obviously their target was to put a dent on the international conference and that was unfortunate.”
Yero also cautioned those take seeking to take advantage of the ugly incident for political gains to desist saying “it is also unfortunate that some people instead of contributing to efforts at de-escalating the crisis, are using their intellectual capacities to negatively incite people.”
He called on those making negative comments in traditional and social media adding that “if they truly love the people, they should use their intellectual abilities to promote peace and unity, which is in the interest of all.”
The Governor used the occasion to condole with the Local Government Council and the entire people of Sanga over the attack, while promising that Government will continue to do all within its powers to ensure the safety of life and property in all parts of the State.
