As a fallout of the impeachment notice slammed on the Governor Murtala Nyako and his deputy,Barrister Bala James Ngilari,on Wednesday a contractor handling the Mubi Bye Pass road construction,in Adamawa State,Alhaji Maiwada Baba has threatened to file a case against the house for defamation of his personality and the company.
Addressing a news conference in Yola,on Thursday, the contractor who spoke through his solicitor,Barrister Sunday Joshua Wugira, ,described the alleged collection of N300million,without mobilizing to site, as leveled by the house was a fallacy.
The chairman of the Hydro Source and Resources, Alhaji Maiwada Baba, who the Adamawa State House of Assembly accused of collecting the sum of N300 million on Mubi bye pass but refused to mobilize to site has demanded a retraction and apology from the house of assembly or he will go to court.
The solicitor to the construction company,M A Bello & Co has told newsmen that his client did not collect the sum of N300million as alleged among the 20 count charge against Governor Nyako and his deputy,Barrister Bala James Ngilari, but rather that the Adamawa State Government was still indebted to his client to the tune of N500million.
According to Barrister Sunday Joshua Wugira Esq ,who stood for the solicitors of Hydro Source and Resources, and Alhaji Maiwada Baba, the chairman of the company ,disclosed that the Speaker of the Adamawa House of Assembly has already received the letter of retraction and apology demanded by his client.
Barrister Wugira said his client had been in the construction work for over 20 years, and had maintained its integrity through the years and therefore frowned at the defamation leveled against a reputable company like the Hydro Source and Resources Company Limited.
He said that the failure by the house to retract that allegation would warrant his client instituting a case against the Adamawa State House of Assembly, stating that his client was only verbally invited by the house and was quizzed, without the pre knowledge of what would ensue.
He argued that his client should not be criminalized for the failure of the Adamawa State Ministry of Works,to demarcate a portion for the said contract job, that until that is done his client could not be claimed to have absconded from site.
Meanwhile,Adamawa Police Command has also said that it has come to its notice that some desperate politicians,to hatch trouble, and warned that the command would not hesitate to deal ruthlessly with such politicians.
A press release signed by the image maker of the command,DSP Othman Abubakar, advised the members of the public to move about their legitimate duties peacefully without fomenting trouble.
