Kano Pillars went ahead on resumption (46th minute) through substitute Nwagwa Nyima, who capitalised on the home side’s poor defending to score.

NAN reports that Nasarawa United failed to equalize in most of that half but when it looked like they were going to lose their first match of the season, Adamu Hassan, latching on a pass from Abubakar Abdullahi, slotted the ball into the net for the home team’s needed equalizer in the 83rd minute to make it 1-1 till the final whistle.

Emmanuel Soccoia, Head Coach of Kano Pillars, described the encounter as fair but bemoaned the scoring opportunities squandered by his players.

“For me its a good game but of course l saw the opportunities for my team to win which didn’t happen. It was nevertheless a very good game and my defence was very good today,” he said.

Bala Nikyu, Head Coach of Nasarawa United, also praised the performance of both teams and admitted that the final result was a reflection of what happened on the field.

“The result is okay and it was a good match. Football is all about winning, losing and drawing. Whether you like it or not, one of that will be the outcome after 90 minutes.

“But I will go and work more on the area that needs improvement, so my team can play better in our next encounter,” he said. (NAN)
