President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed his appreciation on the efforts of the leadership of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) towards improving the standard of Military Education and managerial skills of student officers of the college.
The President made this commendation today at the Senior Course 35 Graduation ceremony of the AFCSC in Jaji
The president, who was represented by Vice President Namadi Sambo expressed his happiness on the Senior Course 35 which he noted was the second to benefit from the new management package.
“I am happy to note that Senior Course 35 is the second to benefit from the new management package which is being handled by the Nigerian Institute of Management. I need not reiterate that the competing demands for scarce resources from every sector of the national economy require you to be efficient managers of men and material.” Said the president.
President Goodluck Jonathan reiterated his administration’s commitment to international peace and security and in promoting peace and development in the continent. The president therefore called on the graduands to live up to expectations and the ideals of the nation in whichever peacekeeping operations they might be called upon to participate.
President Jonathan also commended the armed-forces for its role in maintaining peace and security and in safeguarding the integrity of the nation particularly in respect of the current security challenges which had made it necessary for the armed forces to play a crucial role.
The president Congratulated the graduands and called on them to live up to their capabilities whenever the nation demands, promising his continued support, as the commander-in-chief, to the college so that it gets all that it deserves from the federal government.
While presenting his welcome address, the commandant of the college AVM EE Osim expressed his gratitude to Mr. President whose presence he said was a testimony and manifestation of how dear the President held the institution.
The commandant called on the graduands to utilize the intense training and academics they had acquired from the college to make timely and informed decisions and to always be good ambassadors of the college. He charged them not to rest on their oars in this aerodynamic environment.
Osim also reiterated the leadership commitment to keeping in line with standard of staff colleges across the world and upholding the ideals of the college.
A total of 158 officers passed the Senior Course 35 (psc) out of which 69 are from Army, 40 Navy, 22 Air Force 8 from paramilitary and other agencies of government while 20 are international students from other countries.
High point of the event was the presentation of ‘psc’ certificates to the 158 graduands.
