The Border Communities Development Agency said on Friday that the Agency executed a total of 12 projects in seven border local government areas of jigawa.
The Director Planning and Inter Governmental Relations in the Agency, Alhaji Farouk Maiturare, who represented the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Capt. Junaid Abdullahi disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) during the handing over of some projects executed by the agency in Gumel.
“More often than not, the inhabitants of border communities who have been grossly neglected years back, lack access road, schools, hospital among others,
“These people live in the deep interior, where access is almost impossible due to terrible road network and difficult terrain.
“It is for this reasons that we gathered here today for the official handing over of one the 12 projects we executed to the government and people of Jigawa state.
“At this junction, I will not fail to commend Sen. Abdullahi Gumel, who is the current senator of Jigawa North-West Senatorial District.
“He is the chairman, Senate Committee on State and Local Government Administration who maintained a robust relationship with the agency by giving us the needed support for the agency to initiate and complete the projects,” he explained.
The ES announced that 21 states of the federation with about 105 local government areas and over 300 communities constitute the border communities in Nigeria, pointing out that Jigawa has seven of such local government areas.
Abdullahi stated that border communities in Jigawa would be considered in this year’s budget of the agency in view of their strategic positions to the socio economic activities to the North-West Geo-Political Zone and the country in general. (NAN)
