The Progressive Peoples Alliance PPA has urged Nigerians to support President Goodluck Jonathan with prayers in 2013, irrespective of their party affiliations.  In a New Year message by the PPA National Chairman, Chief Sam Nkire the party said what President Jonathan needed most at this time were fervent prayers in order to deal with the problems of corruption, poverty, unemployment and insecurity now facing the country.

The National Chairman of PPA in a press release today commended the President for the improvement he has recorded in the power sector as well as Lagos-Ore Road and urged him to also consider Enugu-Port Harcourt Road among others.

Chief Nkire said time had come for President Jonathan to shift from being a partisan President to being the President of all Nigerians, adding that he must rededicate himself to work for the welfare of all Nigerians and not just to ensure the payment of salaries of political office holders and people in government offices.

The PPA boss advised that President Jonathan should from 2013 do more to match his words with action in order to sustain the confidence of Nigerians who overwhelmingly trooped out and voted for him in 2011. Nkire also said Nigerians had no doubt that the President meant well for the country but that people were worried that the President did not seem serious with fighting corruption among  people in his government. According to the National Chairman of PPA, the signature of one corrupt government offical in one split second was capable of taking the country

backward by more than one year of unemployment, homelessness, civil unrest and violence; by way of misapplication of fund. He further commended the President and the leadership of both the House of Representatives and the Senate for the understanding they had in passing the 2013 appropriation in record time.
Nkire reiterated his call for a downward review of recurrent appropriations at the Federal, State and Local Government levels in Nigeria.
