2019: Security agencies assure of corps members’ safety in Niger

A the general elections approach, security agencies in Niger state have assured the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) of the safety of corps members in the state.

The Department of State Security and the Police assured state Coordinator, Mrs. Theresa Ibukun Arokoyo when they received her for consultative meetings regarding the welfare and security of corps members during the forthcoming general elections.

At the Department of State Security (DSS), the state Director, Abubakar Dauda Abubakar said the security of corps members was on the Department’s priority list.

He assured her that arrangements were in place for a peaceful electoral process in the State, advising that corps members should be security conscious and avoid unnecessary movements away from their statutory locations

During the meeting, Arokoyo inquired about security arrangements put in place for corps members during and after the election exercise. 

At the Niger State Police Command, she expressed concerns over security arrangements for corps members during the elections.

However, the Police Commissioner, Paul Yakadi assured Arokoyo that deployment of Police personnel had been perfected with special concentration on polling units and its environs.

He stressed that corps members’ safety was factored in the security protocol of the state.
