Some gospel artistes on Friday clamoured for decency and positive attitude among Nigerians, ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Those who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja said positive attitude and decency would bring about crime reduction and national development.

Dr Emmanuel Tabat, aka “Tabat’’, said the Yuletide should be a period of sober reflection, for everyone to re-strategise and achieve all they were unable to accomplish in the year.

Tabat harped on the need to use music to promote decency and good behaviours in the society, especially among the younger Nigerians.

“Let’s use music as a channel to propagate for positive change, re-awakening human consciousness, which would aid in ridding the society of negative ills, as well as promote peace, unity and good morals among us.’’

Similarly, Jeremiah Sunday, a pianist popularly called “Jeremy Black’’, advised other artistes to use their talents toward changing the negative ills in the society.

“God gave us different talents to use, to propagate His word; so, we shouldn’t see it as our right or a way to get fame or earn money. We should use it to change the ills in the society,’’ Sunday said.

Also, Jacob Olufemi, a guitarist urged other artistes to engage younger ones who were interested in music, to acquire skills that would keep them away from juvenile delinquency or negative influence.

“I usually teach younger ones, especially teenagers, on how to play guitar for free, which will keep them busy and away from negative vices especially during holidays and weekends.’’ (NAN)
