Hajia Fatima Adamu Gamawa, mother of Education Minister, Adamu Adamu, died early Friday morning in Azare at the age of 107.
She was probably the oldest woman in Azare where she had lived virtually all her life after migrating from Katagum as a young girl more than ninety years ago. Remarkably too, late Hajia Fatima retained all her faculties, was alert and active until her death “due to old age”, according to the bereaved minister, speaking from Azare yesterday while receiving condolences.
Hajia Fatima is survived by seven children- Malam Lawal Adamu, Hon. Ibrahim Adamu, a politician in Bauchi, Malam Adamu Adamu, Hajia Hafsat Mohammed, Hajia Hauwa’u Taudo and Hajia Iya Abubakar- and many grandchildren.
The ancient town of Azare was in a mournful state Friday as people trooped out on condolence visits to the family house.
