The sudden attempt to claim the $15 Million bribe allegedly offered by Ex Governor James Ibori to former EFCC Chairman ,Nuhu Ribadu has been discontinued.
A two-page notice of discontinuance which was filed at the Federal High Court Abuja on the 29th of August ,2012 said “the intervener/applicant hereby discontinues this suit against all the respondents herein”.Chibuike Achigbu was the Intervener /applicant who earlier sought to claim the money .
But the affidavit earlier deposed to had also revealed that the fund was a donation aimed at supporting PDP candidates in past elections .Andy Uba’s name was also mentioned as the man who handed over the money to EFCC’s Director of Operation at the time , Ibrahim Lamorde .He is now the Chairman of the antigraft agency.
The attempt to claim the money has led to calls for a probe into the alleged bribery case.
