Squash: Consistency gave me my trophy says Nasir

    Abudurahaman Nasir, winner of the 1st edition of U-16 Ex-Squash Pros Diaspora said that his consistency gave him his victory.

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Nasir defeated Mustapha Habeeb 3-2 in a thrilling finals that could have gone either way.

    “I believe God gave me this victory, I was consistent, and my efforts was crowned with effort.

    ” My opponent was tough, I give it to him, he played well, he lost gallantly he should be proud of himself, ” he said.

    Habeeb told NAN that his come back, having lost the first two sets have given him the courage he needed to pursue squash professionally.

    “This finals have reawaken something in me, I was down 2-0, in a set of five, and I was able to pick up and finish 3-2.

    ” The game could have gone either way and I’m happy, the organisers do not know the impact this championship will have on us as we build our career in squash,” he said.

    The President of Ex-Squash Pros Diaspora Femi Shittu told NAN that, the competition was actualising its goal to discover talents at the grassroots.

    ” We are proud of what we have been able to achieve, kudos to Durosinlorun, Mubo, they and other members of the planning committee have done well.

    ” The competition is serving its purpose and we are happy, it’s going to get bigger and bigger by God’s grace,” he said. (NAN)
