The Executive Chairman of Sokoto State Scholarship Board, Hon. Altine Shehu Kajiji has assured the Sokoto State Association of Students Living With Disabilities that the Board would always give special consideration to its members in order to succeed in their studies.
Kajiji, who gave the assurance when he received the Executive members of the Association in his office on Friday, immediately inaugurated a committee under the chairmanship of the Director Administration of the Board, Alhaji Wadata A. Shu’aibu to commence screening of the students in order to start benefiting from the state scholarship.
While charging members of the Association to continue to study hard and consider their disability not a barrier to their success in life but as a proof that there is ability in disability, Kajiji called on them to support the efforts of Governor Aminu Tambuwal’s administration in its quest to prioritize education in the state.
He further said that Tambuwal’s administration had spent huge sum of money in the payment of tuition and allowances to indigenes of the state that were studying in various schools of higher education both within and outside the country.
Kajiji therefore asked members of the Association to reciprocate State Government’s gesture by studying hard and support the policies and programmes of Mutawalle’s administration.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Association, Abdulsalam Abubakar said they were in the office of the Executive Chairman to pledged their support to his leadership at the Board as well as commended the effort of the state government in the payment of scholarship to state indigenes in spite of financial challenges faced by all states of the Federation.
Abubakar further said the Association had since embarked on enlightenment of their members on the successes recorded by the present administration, especially the state of emergency declared by the Governor in the education sector.
In his remarks, the Committee Chairman, Shu’aibu directed members of the Association to come along with the original and photocopies of their credentials, other relevant payment documents as well as two passport-size photographs from Monday, next week for immediate processing of their payment.
The courtesy call was witness by the Directors of the Board as well as several members of the Association.
