The Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Leo Ogor, has congratulated the Managing Director of the New Telegraph Newspaper, Mrs. Funke Egbemode, on her election as President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors.
Ogor, in a statement by his Press Secretary Akpodhoma Michael, in Asaba, noted that the election of Egbemode, is a clear signal that she has successfully justified the mandate given to her by her colleagues in the past year.
The lawmaker said: “Her (election) at this point in Nigeria’s media history, is nothing but the will of the people, and also an indication of her positive leadership skills alongside the voice of God, who has made it possible for her to win again in order to bring in more ideas into the media profession.
“The task ahead is enormous, while the reward for a work well done is the opportunity to do more. He also called on their members to strive to continually improve their skills and acquire new knowledge that would prepare them for life after the editorial chair.”
He further called on all members of the guild to queue behind her in order to achieve success in it’s agenda to lift the guild to greater heights.
