A House of Reps member representing Tambuwal/Kebbe Federal constituency, Hon. Abdussamad Dasuki has launched the award of scholarships to 120 students in Sanyinna town of Tambuwal local government of Sokoto state.
Represented by the Chairman of his Education Committee on Saturday, Alhaji Abdullahi Dogon-Daji, Dasuki said that the scholarship was aimed at encouraging students to excel.
According to him, “We will continue to support the government’s effort under the leadership of Gov. Aminu Tambuwal to ensure the success of education in the state. Education as a priority sector of the present administration, will surely achieve success as we jointly give support. As such, we will continue to commit our energy and resources generally to ensure the success of the steps taken by the state government,” adding that “All the students selected in my constituency were not from well to do families and needed the assistance.”
Dasuki commended members of the committee for their foresight in making the programme successful and urged the beneficiaries to utilise the assistance in pursuit of their studies.
The District Head of Sanyinna, Alhaji Garba Shehu commended the lawmaker for initiating the programme, adding that the programme would go a long way in promoting the standard of education in the area.
He called on individuals and political office holders to emulate Dasuki in order to encourage more development in the area and the state at large.
The state House of Assembly member, Alhaji Mode Ladan described the gesture as a modern system of developing the society.
Each beneficiary received N10,000 scholarship.
