Fresh reports from Kogi State said more than 10 policemen have again, invaded the Okene residence of Mr. Mohammed Bello Adoke (SAN) former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice .They were allegedly searching for cash and undisclosed documents.
The policemen who were fully armed came from the Force Headquarters in Abuja and ransacked Adoke’s residence for nearly one hour without anything to show for the commando-like operation.
Unlike some operations though, the policemen on arrival showed a warrant obtained from High Court of Justice in Gudu District Abuja but they did not reveal exactly why they stormed the home.
The duplex was however ransacked between 4.15pm to 5.15pm.The specific places they searched included Adoke’s bedroom, his wife’s bedroom, the roof and the toilets.Eye witnesses said they left at the end, empty handed.
Mr. Abdul Adoke, one of the younger brothers of the ex-Minister revealed that: “The policemen presented a search warrant obtained from the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Gudu in Abuja. Their leader identified himself as a police officer from the Force Headquarters, Abuja but he refused to disclose his identity.
“We cooperated with them and at the end of the day, nothing was found. They wrote a report declaring that the duplex was free of any incriminating documents. I and four others also signed the report too.”
It could be recalled that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had dragged Adoke to court over alleged involvement in a $1billion Malabu Oil Block deal.
The ex minister who has openly faulted EFCC’s claims has said he will make himself available to defend the charges against him at the right time.
Adoke had particularly denied benefiting from from the auctioning of the Oil Prospecting Licence 245(OPL 245) known as Malabu Oil Block.
Also, the ex minister insisted that he got requisite approvals from the former President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to broker the settlement and execute the OPL 245 Settlement Agreement.
Adoke’s residence has been repeatedly stormed by security forces of late. It was not immediately clear if the latest action was fueled by a whistleblower or other undisclosed reasons.
