Over 360,000 PVCs Uncollected In Kogi -Commissioner

Zainab Suleiman Okino_2The Kogi State Government has appealed to eligible voters in the State to collect the over 360,000 Permanent Voter Cards that are yet to be collected across the 21 Local Government Areas in the state.

The State Commissioner for Information, Hajiya Zainab Suleiman Okino made the appeal in Lokoja following a courtesy visit to the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Mr. Hussaini Halilu Pai .

Hajiya Zainab said the summary of PVC Distribution in the state released by the INEC in Lokoja on Monday, shows that there are Three Hundred and Sixty-two Thousand, Three Hundred and Eight-five (362,385) PVCs that are yet to be collected by eligible voters in the Kogi State.

According to her, One Million, Three Hundred and Seventeen Thousand, Six Hundred and Seventy-two (1,317,672) PVCs  were received by INEC for distribution to registered voters in the state. Of this number, Nine Hundred and Fifty-Five Thousand, Two Hundred and Eighty-Seven (955, 287) PVCs representing 72.5% have been collected by voters in the state, according to INEC.

She noted that the 362, 385 PVCs yet to be collected  by voters in the state represents 27.5% of the PVCs received for distribution to eligible voters by INEC in Kogi State

 

According to the Commissioner for Information, analysis of the summary of PVC distribution in the state shows that Okene Local Government with Forty-three Thousand, Seven Hundred and Forty-Five (43, 745) outstanding PVCs has the highest number of PVCs yet to be collected while Ogori-Magongo Local Government with outstanding Five Thousand, Five Hundred and Eighty-One ( 5, 581) has the least number of PVCs yet to be collected in Kogi State.

She also said that other Local Government Areas in the State still have thousands of PVCs that are yet to be collected by eligible voters in the state.

Hajiya Zainab appealed to eligible voters in the state to visit polling booths where they had registered to vote or the nearest INEC offices in their area to collect their PVCs before the March 22 deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
