The Nigeria Customs Service, the Service has announced the launch of its official Facebook page and Twitter handleA statement by Wale Adeniyi,public relations officer said the launch came on the recent approval of a new Social Media Policy by the management of the service.
“Stakeholders and members of the general public can now LIKE the official page, www.facebook.com/customsng, on Facebook, and equally follow us via Twitter @CustomsNG to get access to relevant and authoritative information on policy statements, Customs news, tariffs, events, scam alerts, videos, and lots more. The Facebook and Twitter handle projects are part of a wider Social Media outreach that will include a Customs YouTube channel, online educational videos, and blog press”the statement said.
Adeniyi said further that the Management of Nigeria Customs Service recognizes the importance of the social media platforms, and their influence on international trade. Therefore, he said the Service is poised to meet its stakeholders on popular platforms to share information that will facilitate trade and boost the economy.
The statement said “According to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Dikko Inde Abdullahi CFR, the new social media policy will complement existing efforts in the traditional media to combat the scourge of online scammers currently duping innocent and unsuspecting citizens. The page, www.facebook.com/customsng on Facebook and @CustomsNG Twitter handle are the only true and authentic social media channels of the NCS.
“This statement therefore serves as disclaimer to every other Facebook/Twitter profiles that purport to represent the Service. Online subscribers are requested to note some of the features that will distinguish our page from others include the NCS logo, Service colours, and exclusive videos. The Customs Facebook/Twitter handle are also linked to the Customs official website (www.customs.gov.ng) on the .gov.ng domain of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
