Comrade Issa Aremu mni, the Labour Party Governorship candidate for Kwara gubernatorial election has hailed the   Present National Executive Members (NEC) Members of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive union  (IEDPU) headed by the National . President- Amb Sheikh Abdulazeez Uthman and the Board of Trustees for the successful hosting of its 53rd Annual Conference.  (IEDPU is the mother of all Unions and Associations in the Ilorin Emirate. It is also the umbrella Union of all indigenes of Ilorin Emirate both at home and abroad. The union has her members and executive members spread all over the five Local Government Areas in the Emirate (Asa, Ilorin East, Ilorin South, Ilorin West and Moro Local Government) Areas and has branches all over the world.

Comrade Aremu commended the Emir of Ilorin, Zulu Gambari and  the past presidents of  IEDPU for nurturing the union formed in 1941 to a matured and largest community association in Nigeria and Africa.  He said there was no doubt that the Union has discharged its responsibilities in the areas of fostering  and promoting  unity; progress and mutual understanding among the indigenes of Ilorin Emirate; promoting better understanding with other communities and Participating in socio-economic development of the community. Comrade Aremu singled out the  educational development of the union for commendation citing the establishment of the first primary school, United Model Primary School Ilorin, in  1944 and the first community school,  Ilorin Grammar School (IGS) in 1967 which he said he attended, between 1972 to 1977.

Comrade Aremu promised if elected would  partner with all community associations in the state in reversing the ugly situation of what he called  “recent syndrome of out-of-school children” due to income poverty of parents and collapse of public schools.

The Labour Party (LP) candidate however decried what he called unacceptable conduct of leaders and  supporters of both PDP and APC in turning annual conference of a 75 year old great community association like IEDPU into a platform of show of  political thuggery and disruption of what certainly promised to be a successful and historic conference. Comrade Aremu called on all contestants to operate within the guidelines and rules of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and rules of INEC to ensure free and fair and above all peaceful elections in the state.

He added that all contestants must realize that they are worthy bothers and sisters and citizens of the state adding that we must necessarily disagree but we must not be disagreeable and degenerate to violence and thuggery. Comrade Aremu assures all Kwarans of good political peaceful conduct and issues-(based campaigns by Labour Party, LP.
