Reports from Maiduguri this evening said gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram have attacked the residence of the Commander , 21st Armoured Brigade in Maiduguri.This attack has come as a shock to observers watching the trend of events in the state.
There was no detail about any casualty on the heels of the attack on the commander’s residence .But earlier reports said soldiers have been battling with gunmen in some areas of Maiduguri since Friday night.These led to some explosions in Gwange area up till late in the night .Further blasts were heard today ,according to reports, in Kalari and Budum areas .
The Maiduguri explosions came after a suicide bomber attacked a Mosque in Potiskum in neighbouring Yobe state.The Emir of Fika escaped death yesterday narrowly.About a month ago, a similar attack hit a Mosque which the Shehu of Borno escaped death by the skin of his teeth as well.
There is growing worry now because the targets of attacks by the Boko Haram sect have become increasingly unpredictable.
