Sesi Whinga Foundation (SWF), a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) has donated a printing machine to Badagry office of National Identification Management Commission (NIMC) in Lagos State.
Mr Sesi Whinga, founder, SWF, presented the equipment to Mrs Anne Edomi, officer in charge of NIMC Badagry centre at a ceremony on Monday.
She said the donation was aimed at ensuring hitch free National Identification Number (NIN) registration for Badagry residents.
Whinga, represented by Mr Dansu Peter, media aid of the foundation said that findings have revealed that the office had challenges with its printing machine.
“The stress my people undergo trying to register for National Identification Number (NIN) is too much, after registration, we observed that there used to be delay in printing of NIN slip and other things.
“So we decided to contribute our own quota by providing this printer to ease the burden of collecting those items.
“Our organisation is aimed at making life easy, by assisting residents of Badagry in the area of education, health and empowerment.
“The foundation has embarked on many projects like community roads rehabilitation, renovation of health centres, scholarships to indigenes and empowerment of the less privileged.
“During the first wave of COVID-19, the foundation distributed food items to the aged, widows and poor to keep them alive,” he said.
Whinga urged the people of Badagry to come out and register for NIN, adding that it was the only way to get genuine identification as a citizen of Nigeria.
Speaking after receiving the equipment, Edomi commended the foundation for the gesture.
She urged other well-meaning individuals and organisations to emulate the gesture. (NAN)
