Workers in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday resumed work after the public holiday declared by the Federal Government to mark the New Year.
A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), who visited the state secretariat and other government offices, reports that the state workers had resumed at their duty posts.
Mr Femi Atiba, a legal practitioner at the Ministry of Justice, who spoke with NAN, thanked God for keeping him and his family members alive to see the New Year.
Atiba appealed to the state government to make the new year enjoyable to workers across the state.
Mrs Aina Modupe, a court clerk at the State Judiciary, also praised God for making her and her colleagues resume work hale and hearty and without losing any staff.
She urged the state government to make the welfare of staff a priority by paying the outstanding salaries.
Federal workers in Ekiti state were also seen at their duty posts as early as 8.00 a.m., praying and worshipping God for sparing their lives to see the new year.
Other places visited by NAN were commercial banks which started work fully with their staff attending to customers.
NAN reports that most of the markets and shops were under lock and key as traders and market women were still celebrating the festive season at home. (NAN)
